Nosy Neighbors Got You Down? Consider A Privacy Fence

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

A privacy fence is a nice way to keep out unwanted eyes from your yard or home. These are generally solid fences that are fairly high so people can not easily peer over them. Families who have small children who often play in the backyard sometimes use privacy fences. Also, people who have pools or hot tubs often want to use a privacy fence in order to keep people from looking in on the activities occurring in the backyard. Anyone who wants an added bit of security will want to have a privacy fence installed if there is not one already there.

A privacy fence can be very decorative. It can be made from a variety of materials and depending on the area you want blocked off you can make it an industrial look or a very homey look. Whatever your personal style and taste is, there is a type of privacy fence available to you. Some people choose to not even use a traditional fence for privacy but instead use shrubs or trees. They will line the area with close fitting tall shrubs or trees. This is very nice because it lends an attractive look to the landscape. For people who have gardens, hot tubs or pools, this option may be particularly appealing. The downside to this type of privacy fence is that it will need much more maintenance to care for and trim the shrubs or trees so they stay attractive.

Privacy fences can be made of wood also. These are usually treated wood that is approximately eight feet tall. A decorative topper can also be added. Because the privacy fence is typically solid, it can look a little plain especially if it is being used around a home. You will want to make it a little more attractive while maintaining the functional use for it as well. A decorative lattice work on the top will help achieve that. A privacy fence can also be made of other materials including chain link and vinyl. For a chain link fence, slats are woven among the links to create a solid wall.

Keep prying eyes out of your yard. Build a privacy fence and get your privacy back.

Art of Succession Planning

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

Succession planning, like any business acumen, is both an art and a science. That is to say, there are many proven strategies that can and must be followed so that successful transition can occur.

Too often organizations address the succession challenge through the rearview mirror. They wait for someone to step down or even worse, be removed. Then and only then do they entertain thoughts of who or what should happen next?

One of the reasons little forethought is given to succession is evident in the fact that it rarely shows up in corporate business plans. Companies are quite diligent in forecasting-out 3, 5 and even 10-years but most of what they plan has more to do with finance, P&L, product evolution and little or no emphasis on who or how future leaders will captain the corporate ship.

It’s no secret senior executives, especially those new to the position, see themselves as bulletproof. In their minds, talk of succession is analogous to talk about potential failure - they will be there forever - so they have little appetite for negativities like that preferring rather to concentrate on positive things like how they will make the company successful - perhaps in perpetuity?

Professional consultants like Pat Micallef, VP of international consulting firm The Meta Group, takes a strong position when he says, “The success of any corporate succession, is predicated on the strength of the company business plan, and, it goes without saying,” he says, “leadership change is integral to future corporate strategies and should be built-in. The success of which, however, [succession planning] hinges expressly on whether or not the architects of the plan have a clear understanding of three important criteria:

a) What will it take to keep the company running and profitable?

b) What will it take to Grow the company? and,

c) What will it take to Change the company?”

It is here we begin so see more clearly that succession planning is an integral part of a much larger stratagem, more complex, perhaps, than seen at first blush.

Senior executives rise to the top based mostly on their unique and proven skills tacitly believed by corporate board members or company owners to be the stuff necessary to champion the needs of the corporation. In a perfect world, the corporate cream rises to the top in a comfortable and timely fashion - but we don’t live in a perfect word - in fact, one could argue we live in a more imperfect world than we’d like to believe.

With that in mind, companies and industries the world over, are addressing the reality that a decade from now, their entire business landscape will be completely different!

Randy Moore, VP of York Region based Mister Transmission, knows the future looks bright for the products and services he sells. Mr Moore knows also, in a very short time, customers will have a greater choice - thanks to the Internet - to acquire similar solutions. The fact that Randy sees this as more of an opportunity than a challenge is recognition that even his marketplace is not static - this is a tribute to his positive and assertive outlook.

Company architects are [or should be] focused more diligently on grooming future executives on the strategic needs essential to run the business profitably in their NEW marketplace in the near future.

Let’s face it; few executives get by today without a reasonable understanding of how to work a computer, the Internet, Excel, PowerPoint and so on. Just a few short years ago, it wasn’t uncommon for senior exec’s to rely totally on assistants for technical support - rendering their [exec] desktop computers as entertainment devices showing pretty fish and flying toasters.

What will tomorrow’s corporate executives need to know? Will they need to be experts at computing? Will an MBA Degree be enough? Will the future of the company dictate a better understanding of Corporate Law - International or Domestic - Human Resources Issues, Strategic or Crises-Management expertise, Techno-Mechanical knowledge? … etc.

In order to groom the next generation of corporate management, planners must be absolutely clear on what [broad-based] tactical skill-requirements will be essential for corporate leadership and growth. A clear and unequivocal business plan in tandem with future leadership skill-set-deliverables is the integral ingredients necessary to ensure the success of leadership succession.

No one’s saying the CEOs of the future have to be experts in all fields or in all disciplines. Nevertheless, it will be increasingly more important that senior exec’s have a comprehensive understanding for the challenges and disciplines for which they are ultimately responsible and therefore must manage.

Although for some the challenge to find or make the next great corporate leader may seem daunting, we can take some comfort in what former President Ronald Reagan once said, “Great leaders are not measured by what great things they do but rather by what great things they get others to do.”

Bottom Line:

Succession Planning is strategic, tactile and deliberate involving a clear understanding of how corporations need to change in lockstep with strategies designed to groom future leaders to meet the need. Successful ‘Transitionists’ understand Succession Planning is both an Art and a Science.

7 Ways To Overcome The Myth That You Have To Be “Pushy” To Succeed

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Haven’t we all been told that the ones who succeed are aggressive and pushy? Isn’t this why so many people are scared of marketing themselves? In my 30 years of coaching people, I have found that almost everyone has an aversive reaction to marketing. In other words, they would rather do anything but market themselves and that’s what they usually do.

Tip 1: Look at your old concepts of marketing:

What images come up for you when you think of marketing.?

Do you visualize a pushy salesman at your door? Do you think of telemarkers calling you at night?

Tip 2: Do you equate marketing to “sales”?

Most of my clients have always worked for someone else and in their own business , they are scared about whether they succeed or fail. So they begin to believe consciously or unconsciously that marketing means “sales”.

Tip 3: Do you think you are” taking” when you are offering your services?

Over many years of helping people get more clients, I can honetly say that most people believe they are taking from another when they market themselves to another. Instead, start thinking of yourselves as giving whenever you tell anyone what you do.

Tip 4: Have a very comfortable , non pushy “elevator speech”.

An “elevator speech” is a memorized version of what you say when anyone asks you “What do you do”. Always answer the question with a question. For example , if you are a real estate agent, instead of saying “Iam a real estate agent,” say “You know how most people get stressed out when they buy or sell a home? Well my job is to help them to relax and enjoy the process. I am a real estate agent.”

Tip 5: Always ask permission to continue.

For example, if you are making a “cold call” to someone in business, get their permission to continue. For example , if you are a coach and you say your name and what you do, like “I help
People succeed in business,” then say ” If you’d like to take 30 seconds, I’ll be happy to tell you what I do.” The receiver of the call will feel like their time is respected.

Tip 6: Always give before asking for the gift of someone’s time and attention:

For example, if you’re a real estate agent , and you want to go door to door, have something in your hand to give the person.
For example, “I’m your neighbor and I have a list of the properties that have been sold in our neighborhood. Would this be of interest to you”?

Tip 7: Your prospect needs to know, like and trust you.

Any attempts at being pushy with a prospect will turn them off.
Remember to focus on building a relationship so they can know, like and trust you.

Multi Purpose Tree - Sugar Palm

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Palm family is unique in the aspect that most of its members have muli purpose benefits to the mankind, unrivalled by few other trees. There are several palm species such as Borassus, Areca, Sago, Fish Tail etc. Because of their beautiful structure, many of the palms adorn gardens.Though pal trees grow very tall, they can also be raised in home gardens or as dwarfs in pots. One of the most important palm trees is the Sugar palm.Botanically known as Borassus Flabellifer; it is widely distributed in the tropics such as India, Srilanka, South East Asia, New Guinea etc.

People from temperate regions are not much aware of this palm and hence are not privileged as people of tropics in appreciating the multi fold benefits of this palm. The tree grows upto 30 meters in height, with separate sexes. The female trees bear edible fruits of about 20 cm diameter.

Over a lifecycle starting from fruit to tree, the sugar palm or toddy palm provides six types of edible portions at different stages. The immature or unripe fruits contain 2-3 locules, and the locules contain a hydrolyzed carbohydrate which is very tasty. (Called ‘munji’ in Telugu language). On maturity the carbohydrates convert to hard starch and this starch is not edible. The locules are in hard shells, which are covered by fibrous material, and this fibrous material which was earlier greenish-whitish in color and tasteless, accumulates sugar and turns orange-red juicy fibres.

This sweet orange juice with characteristic flavor (fruit at this stage called ‘tati pandu’ in telugu), is mixed with flour and baked into cakes. If the ripened fruit is left untouched, the fruit falls to the ground and the seeds (or locules) generate a peg geotropically into the soil. The seed, which has hard starchy material, gets again hydrolyzed into sugars and takes the form of semi solid white mass (the seed on ground with peg into the soil at this stage is called ‘burra gunju’ in telugu). If this stage is not disturbed, the hydrolyzed starch gets transferred through the peg inside the soil and forms a cotyledon.

Once the transfer of sugars is complete, the cotyledon which measures 1-2 cm in thickness and 15-25 cm in length and of conical shape is again edible (this stage is called ‘tega’ in Telugu). If this stage is also not harmed, the cotyledon gives rise to a new palm. While the earlier edible stages namely munji, tati pandu, burra gunju and tega are derived from fruits, there are two other edibles that can be derived from the reserve material stored near the apical bud of the tree. The reserve material which sustains the growth of the tree and much helpful in reproductive stage, is very sweet and looks like a cylindrical white portion with several layers.

The inner the layer, the sweeter it is (this cylindrical sweet portion is called ‘muvva’ or ‘movvu’ in Telugu. The sixth edible derived is called the toddy (’kallu’ in telugu) is derived from this apical bud, by making an incision. From this incision, the liquid food material that is part of the plant’s translocation is tapped and this is an intoxicating and energy giving drink.

Apart from the edible uses, there are several other benefits which man has been using since time immemorial. The leaves are used for thatching and making mats. The leaf stalks have tough fibers, which are twined to make tough ropes for building of houses, boats, etc.The dried shells, leaf stalks are used as fuel. The trunks are used either as live poles in construction of thatch sheds, or as timber in replacement for wooden poles. The trunk of the tree is hollowed, and is directly used as a boat (called ‘dhone’ in telugu) for travel and fishing in many parts of the tropics.

Thus the Sugar Palm or Palmyra Palm or Toddy Palm is unrivalled even in the palm family, for the multi-fold benefits it offers in its life time at different stages.Apprecating this Indian’s give it the status of ’son’ for it takes care of them single handedly even in hard times.

Step down the Ladder of Debt with a Secured Debt Consolidation Loan

Friday, May 30th, 2008

A Debt consolidation loan is a loan used to reimburse several other debts. It is a low cost loan secured on collateral as your home, your vehicle or any expensive asset. DEBT CONSOLIDATION LOANS consolidate all debts incurred through personal loans, overdrafts, or any number of unpaid bills. Debt consolidation gives you a fresh start, making it possible for you to consolidate all of your loans into one, providing you with one easy payment to manage, and that too at a lower rate of interest.

It follows the old proverb that an iron is used to cut iron. The payments, which we build up, are normally the small credits that we take for our personal needs and are not able to pay for them and thus they mount up and finally we avail another personal loan in form of debt consolidation to cut down the payments of earlier loans. Secured debt consolidation loans are easy to indulge in.
Secured debt consolidation is the most prudent way of getting rid of multiple creditors, who may be making your life hell with their threatening phone calls. With secured debt consolidation loan, you can enjoy the following benefits:

Low rate of interest: Due to the assurance in the form of collateral attached, the lender keeps the rate of interest low and you, as a borrower have the satisfaction that you will have to pay less.

Manageable loan repayments: Due to low interest rates and long tenure you tend to pay small payments every month and thus they are quite easy to pay and help you move on to a debt free future.

Long tenure of loan: Since some collateral is attached to the loan, the creditor gives out the loan for a long term and thus makes it possible for you to return the payment at your ease with time in hand.
With so many online loan options available, it is quite effortless to get yourself a stable future with no debts.

Is your fireplace keeping you warm and cosy? - Tips for better heat.

Friday, May 30th, 2008

With the growing trend in restoring to use those fireplaces that have been bricked or boarded up, it is important that these restored fireplaces and chimneys are working efficiently. For wood or coal burning fires to burn well, a good supply of air is required along with a chimney to expel the hot exhaust gases and smoke. Also the fuel should be held in a grate clear of the hearth floor allowing full circulation of the air and waste ash to fall through, so as not to stifle the fire. If the chimney or flue is inadequate or the flow of air insufficient, the fire will not function effectively.

In his thesis on the principles of fireplace design published in1799, Count Rumford emphasized the importance of the size of the flue compared with the size of the fireplace opening. He recommended that the cross-sectional area of the flue should be about a tenth of the size of the opening. However, fireplaces tended to be smaller after the mid nineteenth century. Modern flue liner manufacturers favor a ratio of one to seven, and there are sizing charts published that give details of current standards.

If your fire smokes or won’t burn properly, see if opening a window improves matters. If it does, you need better ventilation in the room. One solution is to install a window vent, although this may cause a troublesome cross draft. A much more efficient form of ventilation is either a single ducted vent set into the floor in front of the fireplace, or twin ducted vents set into the floor or external walls on each side of the chimney breast.

When wood and coal are burned, flammable gases, tarry substances, acids and dust are given off. However, because domestic stoves are relatively inefficient not all of these substances are consumed. Instead, they rise up the chimney and some of them condense on the inside of the flue. Unburned carbon combines with these tars and acids creating soot; which builds up over a period of time thus reducing the size of the flue. It is important to have regularly used chimneys swept at least twice a year, ideally before, during and at the end of the heating season and the local trade directories contain details of fully qualified and suitably insured sweeps. A soot laden flue is a fire hazard, since the unburned elements of the soot can ignite, causing a chimney fire which can reach high temperatures and damage the chimney.

If a flue is too large, its size can be reduced to improve its efficiency by the fitting of a liner. A variety of methods and materials are used, including flue liners made of flexible stainless steel, ceramic, lightweight concrete sections, or concrete cast in situ. Other ways of reducing the fireplace opening in order to improve fire efficiency is to raise the level of the hearth or to fit a baffle across the top of the opening. If raising the hearth level or adding a baffle are not practical or unsightly then it may be worth asking a fireplace specialist whether fitting a metal smoke hood or canopy in the opening is the best solution.

Croquet: A Gentleman’s Sport?

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

George Gershwin, an early American musical genius, transformed public opinion on a style of music that was up until that time found mainly in such “unrepeatable” places as bars and speak-easies. The uniquely American sounds of early jazz received a broad new audience with the advent of Gershwin’s phenomenal hit orchestration, Rhapsody in Blue. Almost single-handedly he brought a “tavern sound” of ragtime to the mainstream public and can now be found in high-brow music collections.

Like pre-Gershwin jazz, Croquet in its early days kept some unruly company. In the 1890’s Croquet at the Boston Common, one of the United State’s oldest public parks, gathered gambling, drinking and licentious crowds. Boston clergymen decried this filthy behavior, which tainted Croquet’s image as a public sport.

Croquet in the United States began as a watered-down version of the courtlier British Commonwealth 6-wicket Croquet. This posh sport was and is still played among the Brits on neatly cut greens similar to those found on golf courses. Heavier wooden mallets and balls are necessary to obtain high accuracy. Intense skill and strategy were aspects of 6-wicket Croquet that the US version did not contain at first. Garden Croquet, as it is known (among other aliases), has remained popular in the US since its introduction over a hundred years ago. US players though, considered it more of a light hearted game than a sport and thus failed to maintain the high status of the English 6-wicket.

It was not until the late 1970’s that the United States began to capture on a widespread basis the original essence of Croquet. Finally it had regained it standing and elegance as a refined sport through a bit of effort by Jack Osborn in 1977. Despite its small beginnings, Osborn’s United States Croquet Association has grown to include nearly 10,000 croquet players playing across the US and Canada on over 600 well-groomed lawns. While Croquet the garden game still enjoys a large following in the U.S., there is also now room for players who are passionate about the more competitive type of croquet that includes deep skill and focus.

Both versions of the game can be purchased and participated in by those interested in this British construction. The milder form of Croquet is great for family reunions, company parties, birthday parties and other get-togethers. The classy 6-wicket Croquet is typically played in clubs where membership fees can pay to maintain the manicured greens. With well documented rules for both versions one can easily learn how to play Croquet at any level, although it may be preferable for beginners to start with a more basic set of rules. A simpler version of the game called Golf Croquet can be easily learned and game time can be as short as 30 minutes. Domestic and international rules apply to club and tournament play and slightly differ from one another.

Croquet has truly transformed into a gentlemen’s, and for that matter, a lady’s sport, requiring physical skills similar to those found in billiards and golf, yet the strategic mind of a chess player. George Gershwin would be proud to see the progress of Croquet in America and perhaps even respect the mainstream attention that it has received, I’m sure he was a croquet enthusiast.

Runners Knee Sports Injury Information for Solihull and Tamworth Runners

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Runners Knee

This is a knee pain condition which presents as pain on the outside of the knee joint. It is commonly seen in distance runners or winter training where increase in distance is involved.

The knee pain is generally eased with rest, but as you run further the pain will return and get progressively worse. You may be aware of a clicking sensation as the knee bends and straightens which could indicate a tight IT Band.

The Ilio-Tibial Band (ITB) is a straplike band of tissue that runs down the outside of the upper thigh and attaches to the outside of the lower leg just below the knee. The ITB is a lateral stabilizer of the knee joint and protects the knee from unwanted sidewards movement.

If the runner runs off road, runs on a camber for long periods or is an over pronator, then this can lead to a tightening of this band via contraction of the tensor fasciae latae. Once this band tightens, the act of bending and straightening the knee will force the tight ITB to flick over the lateral femoral condyle.
Repetitive movements such as running long distances will eventually irritate the tight band and create an inflammation and tenderness which will be very painful.

The ITB is very difficult to stretch due to its location, but icing the inflamed area, reducing mileage and addressing the cause of the irritation will assist the recovery of the condition. Manual Fascial stretching may be needed to stretch the ITB in order to gain a faster recovery time but ultimately a reduction in mileage is necessary to allow the inflammation to be treated.

Careful management during the treatment phase will get fast results and make sure you enlist the help of sports injury specialist with knowledge of running injuries. Solihull Sports Injury Clinic in Hockley Heath, Solihull between Stratford on Avon and Birmingham have such expertise and also have a clinic in Tamworth, Staffordshire. Headed by Sports Physiotherapist and Osteopath John Williams, Solihull Sports Injury Clinic will get runners back running again. Herbert Armstrong: He Was Right

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

H
erbert Armstrong: He Was Right.

A look back at the prescient warnings of a lesser-known
spiritual leader

>From the very start of his work, when the Church was called the
Radio Church of God, Herbert W. Armstrong realized in his study
of the Bible that he must warn about a coming religiously
dominated European superpower just before the return of Jesus
Christ to Earth.

In a July 24, 1983, letter he wrote, “The very first issue of
the Plain Truth magazine appeared February 1934–just 50 years
ago lacking about six months. The article starting on the cover
page warned of a coming sudden appearance of a resurrected ‘Holy
Roman Empire’ in Europe–a union of 10 nations in Europe under
one government, with one united military force. For 50 years I
have been crying out to the world the Bible prophecies of this
coming ‘United States of Europe’–a new united superpower
perhaps more powerful than either the Soviet Union or the United
States!”

That warning continued, unabated, right up to Mr. Armstrong’s
death in 1986.

Knowing that the Bible prophesied a final resurrection of the
Holy Roman Empire, Mr. Armstrong took special care to watch
those men who were critical to the planning and formation of the
European Union. In the late 1970s, he identified a man we should
watch carefully: John Paul II. The appointment of a Polish
pope–the first non-Italian pope in over 400 years–was like an
electric jolt to the entire world, Catholic and non-Catholic
alike. It was clear to Mr. Armstrong that the return of Jesus
Christ was drawing near and that this pope, more than any before
him, was setting the stage for the most climactic time in
history and preparing the Roman Catholic Church for its role in
end-time events.

>From our perspective, another man deserves careful scrutiny as
well: Herbert Armstrong. The prophecies we often write
about–the coming together of the European superpower, the
growing alliance between Russia and China, the soon-coming
return of Jesus Christ–were covered by him for over 50 years
before the Trumpet even existed. Our prophetic understanding is
grounded in his work. His instructions to watch the pope as we
lead up to the return of Jesus Christ provided an education that
far excels that of any news commentator.

Today, both John Paul and Herbert Armstrong are dead, but the
actions they took have prepared the way for the prophetic
fulfillment of the return of Christ. By reviewing these
actions–and Mr. Armstrong’s comments on Bible prophecy during
that critical period–we can see exactly how right Mr. Armstrong
was to watch the pope.

John Paul II

Karol Wojtyla prepared the way for Europe’s unification, east
with west. Read Mr. Armstrong’s comments on this pope’s first
trip to Poland, in 1979, and the eventual outcome: “Many of …
Pope John Paul ii’s activities point to the fact that he can be
the pope that will initiate this European reunion, in a ‘United
States of Europe.’ As a matter of fact, his having come from
Poland, and the effect of his visit there, indicate that instead
of the coming ‘resurrected’ Holy Roman Empire including such
nations of Israelitish ancestry as Holland, Denmark, Norway and
Sweden, the 10 nations to compose it may include such
nations–now Russian satellites–as Poland, Czechoslovakia,
Romania and Yugoslavia. The latter two are long since, to a
considerable degree, independent of the Kremlin. The Soviet
Union may soon experience a breakaway of some of the Balkan
satellite nations. It does seem that the nations of Israelitish
ancestry, in western and northwestern Europe, would likely be
excluded from the coming 10-nation ‘Roman Empire’” (co-worker
letter, Sept. 20, 1979).

In 2004, just as Mr. Armstrong foretold, eight former Eastern
bloc countries were admitted to the European Union–including
Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia. Romania and
Croatia are currently in the application process. As Mr.
Armstrong stated, John Paul ii precipitated the unification of
Eastern Europe with its western counterpart.

The pope also started Europe down the path to religious
unification. Mr. Armstrong often talked about how a united
Catholic Church would drive Europe, even over the objection of
its political leadership. “Bible prophecy says this European
unification will be also a union of church and state (Revelation
17). Many European political leaders do not want religious
domination, or even participation. But they are coming to
realize they cannot be welded together into one great European
supernation without the unifying power of the Catholic Church”
(member and coworker letter, Nov. 22, 1982).

John Paul II made a habit of being “the first pope ever” to
visit certain areas, and his reasons were no secret. He wanted
to heal the breach in Europe between the Roman Catholic Church
and the Orthodox churches–a split rooted in a dispute over the
infallibility of the pope that goes all the way back to the
ninth century. Mr. Armstrong made reference to this dispute:
“The Catholic Church is divided between the Roman Catholic
Church in the west and the Greek Orthodox Church in the east.
The latter has strenuously objected to supremacy of the pope and
to the doctrine of papal infallibility. But on this trip we
learned in Athens that the Eastern Orthodox church at last is
willing to give in on papal leadership, though not yet in
agreement on infallibility. I feel sure some compromise or
agreement will be reached very soon” (ibid.).

John Paul II spent the rest of his life trying to bring the
daughter churches back into the fold. In a May 25, 1995,
address, “That They May Be One,” he stated, “How can unity be
restored after almost a thousand years? This is the great task
which the Catholic Church must accomplish, a task equally
incumbent on the Orthodox Church.” But while his life was spent
working toward the unity of the Catholic Church, his death was
the single greatest catalyst toward achieving that goal. Look at
how John Paul’s funeral, the greatest media event in history,
brought the world together. Mr. Armstrong’s statements on
Catholic unity are right on the verge of coming to pass (see
“Returning to the Fold” on page 18). Any actions Pope Benedict
xvi will take toward further reconciliation with Protestant and
Orthodox religions were made possible by John Paul II.

He Was Right

And yet, on occasion, someone will point out that Mr. Armstrong
was not always correct in stating how quickly prophecy might
unfold. Remember though, the Apostle Paul believed he would be
caught up in the air at Christ’s return as one of “we which are
alive” (1 Thessalonians 4:15). When the Apostle John said, “It
is the last time [hour],” he truly believed that Jesus Christ
was returning shortly. These men, obviously faithful servants of
God, were off in their timing by almost 2,000 years.

When the Great Tribulation comes before the return of Jesus
Christ, no one will think about the timing of Mr. Armstrong’s
comments. They will remember that everything he said came to
pass exactly as he said it would in 1934, as well as the words
the apostles Paul and John penned so long ago.

How far away does a European superpower seem now? With a
Europe-focused conservative new pope, a phenomenon the Trumpet
has continually warned we should expect at this time, how
probable does it seem that the European superpower will take its
final form speedily?

This is not the time to say, as Christ warned against in Matthew
24:48, “My Lord delayeth His coming!”

Far from being wrong in his prophetic statements, Mr. Armstrong
has been proven right again and again. He saw the formation of
the European superpower on the horizon before anyone else did.
He pointed out, decades in advance, that John Paul could be the
pope to initiate the reunion of east and west in Europe. In the
midst of the Cold War, the headline “Why Russia Will not Attack
America!” only ran in one magazine: the Plain Truth. His
analysis of world events was consistently decades ahead of those
around him. For far more proof of this, please request a copy of
our sample Trumpet edition titled “He Was Right,” which
illustrates this fact in detail.

Before Jesus Christ came to Earth the first time, John the
Baptist was sent to prepare the way. Now, a man in this modern
age has prepared the way for Jesus Christ’s Second Coming, which
will have a far more dramatic outcome for everyone alive–in
fact, for everyone who has ever lived. The announcement given
during Christ’s first coming of the good news of His coming
Kingdom is about to be realized! And, just as prophesied in
Malachi 4:5, the world has been prepared before the coming of
that “great and dreadful day of the Lord.”
