Imagine the Possibilities

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Peggy Lee was one of my favorite vocalists growing up…and I don’t mind dating myself. She sang a song which I occasionally hear still today called “Is That All There Is?” The ballad tells the story of a child who, with every experience she encounters, including the destruction of her home by fire, asks “Is that all there is…is that all there is to a fire?” To go beyond the obvious…beyond what we literally see and experience…and begin to imagine what else that experience might portend is what a child does best. It is what children know and what adults tend to forget. We need to keep in mind that our imagination born out of our unconscious minds is the key to creativity while constantly turning to our conscious thinking powers limits that potential.

I remember my granddaughter at the age of about 10 months at her brother’s birthday party with about 30 mingling guests. She was crawling around on the carpet when a piece of lint caught her eye. She stopped, picked it up albeit with some difficulty, sat down and began to examine it carefully akin to a scientist running an experiment. She spent about a minute in that task then dropped it and went onto her next adventure. Today, she’s fourteen, beautiful, intelligent, inquisitive, is the leading scorer on her hockey team and talks about becoming a veterinarian. She lives in a rural community and has at least six animals she diligently cares for.

Fear and doubt are spawned by our inability to take risks…to experience new things…to gain knowledge. When we choose to stay stuck there…and it is a choice despite its being an unconscious one…life becomes a boring, humdrum experience. There is no sense of adventure or creativity. There is only the plotting and plodding of our next move as we obsessively are preoccupied with not making mistakes so that we will be “perfect”. Of course we know that we can’t accomplish that across the board but some people stay awake at night thinking about ways to accomplish the impossible instead of living and enjoying life to the fullest.

I believe that there are three secrets to a happy and successful life. The first is to always have something to look forward to. This will allow us to view life as an adventure within our control in our need to experience it more and more everyday. The second secret is to bring as much love into our lives as possible. I believe that the key to mental health and happiness is the sense of loving and being loved which is probably why so many songs are written on that topic. The third is to develop and maintain a sense of humor…including our ability to laugh at ourselves. There is nothing more therapeutic that a good, ol’ fashioned belly laugh shared with someone we love. Beyond those three secrets, one can only imagine the possibilities leading up to the question “Is that all there is”?

Who Are The Crabs In Your Life?

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Going through my photo album the other day, I ran across one of those types of pictures that take you immediately back to a place and time so clearly you relive it. You know the ones, where you can feel the crisp air, smell the aroma, embrace the warmth of a thought or an emotion. This was one of those photos.

My wide-eyed daughter was experiencing her first trip to the beach, complete with shovels and buckets and lathered in suntan lotion so her tender skin didn’t burn. I can still remember the aroma of the coconut scent as I reflect on the observations of her tiny, but all too astute mind.

She had discovered sand crabs that day, and to her delight they were everywhere for the taking. Bucket in hand, she was delighted every time she saw the telltale signs of the air bubbles popping up from beneath the sand.

Periodically, she would come over to me and introduce me to each of her new friends by name. You see, she was hosting a party and as she walked up and down the beach, she would add one of her new found friends to the bucket so that they would be all assembled and ready when the party was to commence.

After observing this routine for quite some time, I began to notice that every so often she would stare into the bucket and wrinkle her nose in that special way that warms a mother’s heart. As she stared into the bucket it looked to me like she would carefully pick one of the crabs up, leave it in the sand and then walk away.

I was very curious to hear the reasoning behind this process, but was nowhere near ready for the impact of her explanation.

The next time she returned to introduce me to more of her new friends, I told her I noticed that she was taking some of the crabs out of her bucket and asked her why.

“Well, mommy, I don’t want those ones at my party,” she exclaimed quickly. Figuring this was going to be one of those life lessons I keep an eye out for, I prepared to tell her that it was important to include all of her friends in her party.

But instead, it was I who received the lesson.

She went on to explain that some of the crabs were trying to crawl out of the bucket and other crabs were reaching up and pulling them back down. At this point, I figured that the ones who were trying to crawl away were the one that she was removing.

But to my surprise she exclaimed, “No, silly, the ones that are trying to crawl out of the bucket are just really excited to get to my party first. I am getting rid of the ones that are pulling them down. THEY are the ones that don’t get to come to my party because they are not excited enough…

How many “crabs” are there in your life that don’t share your enthusiasm for getting to the party first? Odds are, there are at least a few. You know, the ones who are always trying to pull you back down to the bottom of the bucket? And do any of us have the child-like wisdom to “discard” those crabs and press on toward filling our bucket with new ones?

Now of course, unlike my daughter’s crabs, we can’t simply toss our crabs aside and walk away. That will be a lesson for her to learn another day. But for the rest of us, we need to get a second bucket for these “special” crabs that don’t share our enthusiasm and understand that they don’t share the same space with those who motivate, inspire and encourage us to do our very best!

Cherish and cultivate the bucket which contains positive people in your life and never overlook an opportunity to fill that bucket to the brim! The heavier it gets and the more it overflows you will begin to notice great things coming your way. I promise!

I’m glad I’ve added you to MY bucket! And I hope I will soon occupy a special place in yours!

Home Business Success And Your Passion

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

So what is home based business, home business, mlm, network marketing really all about? The following report includes some fascinating information about home based business, home business, mlm, network marketing–info you can use, not just the old stuff they used to tell you.

In whatever career you may find yourself in, there is no such thing as “information overload.” Know as much as you can, do what others do, and what the entire company does. Equip yourself with a total knowledge of your work environment, enough to make you feel like you own the network. Who knows, you may someday.

Walking an extra mile, being organized at work, honesty, trust-worthiness, dependability, being a team player, loyalty, and resourcefulness are the must-be characteristics of your passion.

Are you the type of worker who is always looking forward to Monday morning? Or you are the type of worker who’s pleading and hoping that it will always be Friday the other day? There are workers who are called TGIF workers? What is TGIF? TGIF stands for Thank God It’s Friday. TGIF workers can’t wait for their minimum of 8 hours a day to finish. If you classify yourself as a TGIF worker, then you are certainly lacking something or missing something important in your career life – passion.

What does it take to be passionate in your job? There is always that old maxim “Do what you love the most.” A passionate worker always has the appetite to go to work every day. He or she doesn’t mind if it’s Monday or Friday. He or she treats everyday as an important day in his or her career life. What do you think is the result of being a passionate in your career life? When you are passionate in your job, you enjoy it and even seek for more. There is always the idea in your mind that you can always do better than that. You are not satisfied to mediocre work. And it pays to be a passionate worker not because you will be accelerated into higher position nor you will be given extra compensation, but because you can get things done in your work with a sense of appreciation.

So far, we’ve uncovered some interesting facts about home based business, home business, mlm, network marketing. You may decide that the following information is even more interesting.

In your work as an entrepreneur at home, you got to have extra passion. Why do you need it? You might be asking. Take this for an instance; can you able to sit a little longer whenever a meeting comes? Can you stay a little longer if you’re transacting some business matters to a customer that asks too many questions? In short, can you be patient enough but maintaining the passion in you? You can be energetic enough in your work but it demands greater than that. Still, you need passion in your work.

So, what separates a passionate worker to a worker that only minds work?

People who practice passion in their work always perform their work at their best. They always strive for perfection in everything. They see perfection as unattainable in most things. But their eagerness drive them much nearer to it than those whose laziness and despondency make them give it up as an imperfection. Passionate workers put extra care in their work and they aren’t satisfy for anything less.

At this point you might be asking either one or more of the following questions: 1. Do I need passion even though my work is just a home business? 2. To whom will I use passion? 3. What will passion do for me? What is its impact in my performance? 4. How may I know my passion?

The last question on the list is very interesting. In one way or the other, passion creates a difference in terms of performance between a passionate worker and the other. What do you like the most? What are your interests? What type of job do you enjoy the most? The answers to these questions vary depending on the personality of a worker. But whatever will it be, if you can answer the questions then that will be your checklist on how you may know your passion. Each worker has different passion. One’s passion is not the same with the other. Your job as a home business representative takes a little talking to different people. If you found that your passion is more on communication, then you are really entitled for the home business. If you like to deal with different people and enjoy front liner’s job, you are really fitted for the home business.

So now you know a little bit about home based business, home business, mlm, network marketing. Even if you don’t know everything, you’ve done something worthwhile: you’ve expanded your knowledge.

Quality, not Equality!

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness…knowledge…self-control…perseverance… godliness…brotherly kindness [and] love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:5-8).

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who was imprisoned and then killed by the Nazis just before the Allies came in, said in his Letters & Papers from Prison, “Nobility arises from and exists by sacrifice, courage, and a clear sense of duty to oneself and society, by expecting due regard for itself as a matter of course; and it shows an equally natural regard for others, whether they are of higher or of lower degree.

“We need all along the line to recover the lost sense of quality and a social order based on quality. Quality is the greatest enemy of any kind of mass-leveling. Socially it means the renunciation of all place-hunting, a break with the cult of the `star’, an open eye both upwards and downwards, especially in the choice of one’s more intimate friends, and pleasure in private life as well as courage to enter public life.

“Culturally it means a return from the newspaper and the radio to the book, from feverish activity to unhurried leisure, from dispersion to concentration, from sensationalism to reflection, from virtuosity to art, from snobbery to modesty, from extravagance to moderation. Quantities are competitive, qualities are complementary.”

Note that Dr. Bonhoeffer said quality, not equality! We are so concerned with equality, i.e., our rights, that we have let slip that virtue of quality that enables us to have real equality. In our effort to make all flowers equal, we tend to chop off the more beautiful blossoms! Sameness has a way of killing off worth. I am convinced that every child allowed to be born in these days of “choice” is equipped with his or her own special qualities, and only he or she can accomplish that certain responsibility for which this child is sent to earth. This is why each child is so precious! This is why we must add to our faith all the virtues that make our life and the lives of others worthy and worthwhile.

Are You A “Visionary”

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Dreams may seem unimportant in your quest for success. And it’s true that ordinary dreams are often a mix of what happened during your day –plus some “wild” random associations.

But there’s more than one kind of dream.

For example: Many ultra successful people use a process of “waking dreaming” to fuel their visionary powers.

What is a “waking dream?”

A waking dream often starts out as a daydream. But each time the dream is remembered, the brain cell networks associated with it are physically strengthened.

And if the dream is repeated enough, what started out as a daydream becomes a dominant vision.

The key word here is DOMINANT.

** Overcoming Personal Doubt and Fear

You can bet that all successful people started out with their own collection of personal fears, doubts, and perceived limitations.

But as their dream was encoded into their brain cells through repetition, it gradually became more dominant than their fears and doubts.

Soon the neural network holding their dream was stable enough to totally override those old fears and doubts.
This is NOT a “made-up” scenario. It’s solidly based on modern neuroscience.

Scientists now use fMRI technology to actually watch the brain create new neural connections while someone is focused on solving a problem or learning something new.

Think about that for a moment.

I saw these same results years ago during my computerized EEG brainwave and biofeedback research and clinical practice.

This is a powerful key to success. And it’s been used by the world’s ultra successful people since the beginning of time.

(((Repeated focus builds physical brain power.)))

Why does this work so effectively?

Because at some point in time, your repeated vision of your dream becomes a BRAIN-BASED INTENTION.

That’s when the doors begin to open, the opportunities seem to drop into your lap, and your dream begins to take shape as a reality.

** Enter Visionary Power

We are each endowed with visionary powers. When you take a few minutes to think about what you are going to do over the weekend, you’re actually visualizing.

Here’s the process: First, you consciously picture your possibilities using your imagination. Second, you make a choice of one possible option from among the many. Then all that remains is to take steps to create your choice in reality.

But most ultra successful people are *highly achieved* visionaries, and take this process a bit further.

To me, a “highly achieved visionary” is one who:
• Encourages waking dreams.

• Purposefully uses their imagination to create possible scenarios from their waking dreams.

• Selects a scenario that fires up passionate desire.

• Strengthens their vision by constantly “dreaming” about it on a conscious waking level.

• Takes focused, committed action to bring their dream, or vision, into reality.

** Creating Visionary Success

The success achieved by ultra successful people often brings outrageous rewards and plentiful financial returns.

You may or not be motivated to become a millionaire. That’s not really the issue. Many people can live the life of their dreams without being wealthy. You may be one of them.

Or perhaps your vision has nothing to do with money at all. It could focus on creativity, or simply a less stressful lifestyle.

The real issue is: what kind of life do you want to create for yourself?

** How to Get Started

Here’s a great bit of advice by the famous American writer, Mark Twain:
“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex, overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.”

Try this approach to get yourself started:

1. First, give yourself the luxury of some relaxing time alone. Then just imagine how you would like to spend the rest of your life. It’s often especially good to get out in nature.

2. Second, allow yourself to “daydream” about what your ideal life would look like. Be sure NOT to place limits on the size of your dreams.

3. Third, as you do your visionary waking dreams, watch for one vision that seems especially inviting or exciting to YOU. The greatest power in manifesting a vision is PASSION.

4. Now memorize (or write down, if that’s your style) the essence of that vision. And make a commitment to yourself to “re-visualize” it several times a day.

Open your awareness to steps you can take to bring your vision into reality. Just begin to take action. Even 10 minutes a day adds up quickly.

Pay no attention to negative fears or feelings of inadequacy. The process itself will handle them. This is NOT a race — it’s about the rest of your life.

If you can’t get your visionary process moving, try going for a walk or run. Or go swimming, biking, hiking, or even weight-lifting.
**How to Keep it Going

Ultra successful people are that way because they’ve learned how to light up their own passion — and keep it hot.

If you’re out there by yourself, this can be a challenge at first. You may even feel a bit overwhelmed.

This is a common experience for most of us when doing something new — especially if that “something” involves expanding our own self.
Remember not to make the visionary process unnecessarily difficult.
Enjoy yourself.

Make each step of the way as enjoyable and playful as possible. This IS your life, after all.

Just persist in revisiting your ideal vision. Your amazing brain will build stronger and neural networks to help your vision manifest. That’s a proven scientific fact.

Web Page Design

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Web page design involves the design of pages that are published on the World Wide Web. Web page design includes not only the aesthetics aspects but also includes navigational and user interface aspects of design. Web pages must be designed keeping in mind the goals of the organization for whom the site is being designed. The process of Web page design begins by gathering all the information, understanding the objectives to be achieved and determining the target audience. The type of browsers visitors use, the kind of Internet connections used to visit your site and the computers used are other important design factors. A site designed for broadband users can be graphics intensive compared to a site designed for dial-up users who typically use a slower Internet connection.

Once the design specifications have been decided, it is best to start planning the navigation structure and content of the Web pages. The process of Web design often involves creation of a mockup, which provides an idea of the layout of the Web page. Once the mockup is finalized the graphics are created and the coding of the Web page can be done using a mark up language such as hypertext markup language, or HTML.

HTML allows creation of Web pages that can be viewed using a Web browser. HTML allows the precise placement of text and images and enables navigation through the use of hyperlinks. Several WYSIWYG (What you see if what you get) HMTL editors are available to help create Web pages. Using these HTML editors, a designer can create Web pages without having to learn actual html coding. Microsoft FrontPage and Macromedia DreamWeaver are two of the most popular and powerful HTML editors.

Designers use image editing software applications to create the graphics for a Web site. Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Fireworks are two of the most popular image editing applications.
