Indian tea is one type of tea that started to gain its own ground in the early 19th century when the Chinese monopoly for tea was finally broken. Ever since then, Indian tea has been spread and appreciated by millions around the world. There are many different types of Indian teas and they come from all different regions of India. Some well-known types of Indian teas are: Darjeeling tea, assam tea, Nilgiri tea & Orissa tea. They are rich in flavor and well-suited to be consumed after a spicy meal, which is very typical of Indian cuisine.

If wanting to find out more about Indian tea, it would be a wise idea to stop by a local Indian store and inquire further. Sometimes these stores will carry all the different types of ingredients that may make one particular type of Indian tea. That could be a fun evening, either alone or with friends, trying to make your own exotic Indian tea. The chai tea for example is one type of Indian tea known for its rich ginger and cinnamon flavor that is well-known to aid in digestion.
